Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A father-son duo, K. Prasad and D. K. Deepak, was arrested in Burdwan for running an unregistered medical clinic with forged documents. The duo had been operating the clinic located in a three-story building near Lakshmipur field, where they allegedly posed as doctors and provided medical services without proper certification. Both individuals were using "Doctor" stickers before their names, despite not having the necessary qualifications or medical degrees.
Investigations revealed that the clinic had been functioning without any registration or medical license. Allegedly, they conducted minor surgeries and offered medical consultations, all without the legal and professional medical credentials required. D. K. Deepak's name appeared on documents as having an MBBS degree and an MD in alternative medicine, but no evidence was found to substantiate these qualifications. Along with the clinic, the duo also operated a medicine shop located directly across the street, reportedly run by their younger son.
The case came to light after local residents raised concerns about the suspicious activities at the clinic. Following these complaints, the district's Chief Health Officer directed a police raid on the premises. Authorities discovered that the clinic had no official medical registration or legal approvals to operate. During the raid, the police also seized various documents that appeared to be forged, further supporting the claims of fraudulent activities.
The arrest highlights ongoing concerns about illegal medical practices in the region. Local authorities have confirmed that the matter will be reported to the Medical Council for further investigation. The investigation into the operation of this clinic is ongoing, and authorities are urging the public to report any similar unregistered medical practices.
